Andaz Wall Street Farmers Market
Beginning June 26th, every Thursday from 11am to 6pm, the hotel’s plaza will host its outdoor farmers’ market for another season. True to Andaz Wall Street’s community spirit, the farmers’ market suppliers will also provide the hotel’s outlets with fresh produce to be featured on all menus. From basil, beans and beets, to rosemary, rhubarb and rutabaga, the freshest batches will be presented each week by an array of rotating local farmers. For the 2014 season, the hotel’s principle farmer will be David Zaback from Z Food Farms. Andaz Wall Street’s Executive Sous Chef, Victor Cruz, along with the Hotel’s Purchasing Manager, Joel Patraker, have been working together for nearly a year to revive the hotel’s weekly Farmers’ Market.
Andaz Wall Street will further its collaboration with Z Food Farms to offer Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares for the 2014 season. CSA is a relationship of mutual support and commitment between local farmers and community members. This is ideal for lower Manhattan residents and workers. Members pay a seasonal fee upfront to receive farm credit or a weekly supply of fresh produce, which varies in content according to the season. Participants can choose between a Market Share and a Farm Share membership. Market Share members purchase farm credit before the season begins and receive bonus credit as thank you. Farm Share members pick up an assortment of seasonal vegetables and/or herbs each week at the Andaz Wall Street Farmers’ Market on Thursdays from 11am to 6pm. Andaz Wall Street’s General Manager has personally signed up for the CSA program. The hotel has also signed up to give a weekly supply to a different hotel associate each week in order for the Andaz Wall Street team to personally enjoy the benefits as well.
The Andaz Wall Street Farmers’ Market will continue through mid November.
