Federal Hall

This famous Greek revival building, where George Washington was sworn in as the first president of the United States, has stood since the birth of the republic. Come catch a glimpse of what old New York was like from the Dutch and English colonial periods up through the city’s brief two-year tenure as the seat of the federal government before construction on Washington, DC, had even begun. Federal Hall National Memorial has served to house Congress, the Executive Branch offices and the Supreme Court, and has since been a sub-Treasury branch and a customs house.
